Focus Outward

Have you ever been stuck in a rut? It seems like your life is going nowhere and there is nothing that you can do about it. No matter how hard you try to change things, they seem to always stay the same? The world will tell you that you need to try harder. That there is some secret that you are missing and when you figure it out, things will start to work out for you. There is a secret, but it is not very well hidden. It is written in the most printed book of all time, the Bible. The world will tell you that you need to focus on yourself but God’s word has a different suggestion. God’s word tells us that we need to focus outward, toward others and God instead of inward. Continue reading

Sharing Your Gifts

Image

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’ (Matthew 22:37-39). According to Jesus, the whole law was based on these commandments. God gives every single believer gifts to share with the body of Christ. These gifts are supposed to be used to glorify God and edify the body. In my opinion, too many Christians don’t share their gifts for a variety of reasons. Continue reading

God-Help – The Journey

The next important component to improvement is that you break any problem down into manageable pieces so you can have reasonable goals. I saw in an article recently that happiness comes from lots of small achievements rather than a single big achievement. Not only will you be more happy at the end of the process, you have a much better chance of reaching the final goal. Continue reading

God-Help – The Concept

Image

I’ve been thinking over the past few days about how a person should implement the changes necessary to improve their life. One of the things that sticks out to me is the whole concept of self-help. I love the concept of being able to improve yourself through the experience of others. No Fear

I remember doing some crazy things as a kid. One day we got a trampoline for the backyard. My dad spent days digging out this special spot in the back to put it. The trampoline needed a large amount of flat area and so he leveled the ground and put it together for us. That spot was cool for awhile but since it was dug into the ground, it didn’t make it seem like you were jumping as high. Continue reading

New Beginnings

Image

After discovering God, I found that my life had purpose and meaning. I wasn’t some random person that just happened to be here, that my only job was to not be a burden to others. I was here for a purpose and that purpose was to change the world. God challenged me to grow because He was sculpting me into the man I needed to be. God placed me here for a purpose and in order to fulfill that purpose, I needed those skills. One of the first things God challenged me to do was to go to church. Continue reading

The Pivot

In junior high band became my life. I played the saxophone and was in every band I could get in. I loved playing music and it really made me come alive. There were others in the band that could play the sheet music better than me but, I was the best at doing improvisation solos. I could play from the heart better than anyone in jazz band! In fact I loved jazz music and listened to it all the time. Continue reading
