Getting Back Up

I remember back in elementary school how we used to make fun of these commercials that were on TV. You would see some elderly lady on the floor and she would say “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” The kids at school would imitate these commercials at school and we would all laugh. It seemed like a foreign concept to fall on the floor and not be able to get back up. Now I’m not trying to pick on elderly people that fall and can’t get back up but, the sad reality is that this is true for a lot of us and we don’t even know it. Continue reading

The next important component to improvement is that you break any problem down into manageable pieces so you can have reasonable goals. I saw in an article recently that happiness comes from lots of small achievements rather than a single big achievement. I remember doing some crazy things as a kid. One day we got a trampoline for the backyard. My dad spent days digging out this special spot in the back to put it. The trampoline needed a large amount of flat area and so he leveled the ground and put it together for us. That spot was cool for awhile but since it was dug into the ground, it didn’t make it seem like you were jumping as high. Continue reading
